Atiyoga and the Way of Intrinsic Awareness
The Great Perfection (Dzogchen Atiyoga) is the summit of all paths. While many approaches to awakening involve contrived methods, and are based on accepting and rejecting; Atiyoga points directly to intrinsic awareness: primordially pure, empty, and spontaneously clear.
The Basis
The “Basis” is the fundamental ground of reality, the source of both samsara and nirvana. It is the authentic condition of “what-is.” The dualistic experience of a separate self is simply the result of not recognizing the luminous Ground. As the ancient Tantras state: “Everything has already been accomplished; having overcome the sickness of effort, one finds oneself in the self-perfected state.”
The Uddiyana Heritage: The Natural Way
I have named this work Sahaja Dharma to honour the spirit of the Sahaja movement that flourished in ancient kingdom of Uddiyana—the spiritual cradle of the Great-Perfection, of the Vajrayana and the Yogic contemplative Buddhist traditions. This tradition represents the “Natural Way” (Sahaja), which has always flourished outside the normative structures of monastic institutions.
Direct Experience: I prioritize immediate realization over scholastic debate or ritual complexity.
The Mystic Root: This is a non-sectarian, experiential approach to liberation that transcends religious labels. It is rooted in the wild, the charnel ground of the conceptual mind, and the human heart. It thrives through the devotion towards the unborn ultimate ground of reality.
The Living Lineage: Following the heritage of Garab Dorje and the lineage that follows, the teachings and transmission of this path continues in a contemporary context—emphasizing the Essence over administrative hierarchy and ritual complexity.
Stages of Cultivation
While the ultimate View is immediate, the stabilization of that recognition often unfolds through specific stages:
The Foundation: Establishing clarity on core principles and classical philosophy to create the stability needed for deeper work.
The View: Receiving the “Pointing-out Instructions” to directly encounter the nature of mind—the union of primordial purity and spontaneous luminous awareness.
The Experience: Moving beyond words and ideas through contemplative practice. One must develop concrete inner experience to transform intellectual understanding into a living reality.
The Integration: Bringing the state of presence into the flow of daily life. In our time, this is vital; the practice must not remain confined to the cushion but must permeate every aspect of existence.
Practice and Connection
When possible I do live guidance and open sessions focused on the direct discernment of the View and clarifying the essence of the path and contemplative practice. These gatherings are open to all who feel a sincere resonance with the essence of the path, regardless of their background in formal practice.
While I also guide a small circle of long-term practitioners in traditional Vajrayana methods, my public activity is dedicated to making the inner essence of the teachings, the direct path, accessible and practical for the contemporary seeker.
