What is Sahajadharma about?
In short, I teach the essence of the Buddhist path, specifically I teach the tradition of The Great Perfection (Dzogchen Atiyoga). While many approaches to awakening involve contrived methods, and are based on accepting and rejecting; Atiyoga points directly to intrinsic awareness: primordially pure, empty, and spontaneously clear.
These teachings point to the Basis — the fundamental ground of reality, the source of both samsara and nirvana. It is the authentic condition of “what-is.” The main emphasis of this approach is pointing to the fact that the dualistic experience of a separate self is simply the result of not recognizing this luminous Ground — nothing more needs to be added, nothing needs to be fixed. As the ancient Tantras state: “Everything has already been accomplished; having overcome the sickness of effort, one finds oneself in the self-perfected state.”

Guiding Principles
The Uddiyana Heritage: The Natural Way
Sahaja Dharma honours the spirit of the Sahaja movement that flourished in ancient kingdom of Uddiyana—the spiritual cradle of the Great-Perfection, of the Vajrayana and the Yogic contemplative Buddhist traditions. This tradition represents the “Natural Way” (Sahaja), which has always flourished outside the normative structures of established Buddhist institutions.
Direct Experience: I prioritize experiential instructions over scholastic debate or ritual complexity.
The Mystic Roots: This is a non-sectarian, experiential approach to liberation that transcends religious labels. It is rooted in the direct teachings of Atiyoga. It thrives through the love towards the unborn ultimate ground of reality.
The Living Lineage: Following the essence of the Buddha’s teachings, and the Atiyoga tradition that originates from Garab Dorje and the lineage that follows, the teachings and transmission of this path continues in a contemporary context—emphasizing the Essence of the Buddha Dharma.
Personal Path & Responsibility: Fundamentally each one of us is responsible for our own path, this is integral to the Dharma. The teachings are given in order so that genuinely interested practitioners learn how to practice and develop their own experience. A teacher’s role is to explain the teachings, point to the mind’s essence, explain the practice and clarify doubts. Practitioners should remain active, to develop their own discernment — genuine authority comes from one’s own direct experience and practice.
Elements of the Path
While the ultimate View is immediate, the way I present the teachings includes several aspects that assist in discovery and stabilization of that recognition:
The Foundation — This is to establish clarity on core principles and classical philosophy, building the stability needed for deeper work.
The View — I give the “Pointing-out Instructions,” directly introducing the nature of mind — the union of primordial purity and spontaneous luminous awareness. In addition teachings to clarify the view.
The Experience — Contemplation or Atiyoga Meditation: Explaining clearly and assisting practitioners into contemplative practice itself. Intellectual understanding must become a concrete experience in meditation.
The Integration — Explaining and assisting in how to bring this state of presence into the flow of daily life. In our time, this matters more than ever; practice cannot remain confined to the cushion, it must permeate every aspect of existence.
